Set up Quietbeat in a few minutes, keep your safety net healthy, and find answers if someone asked you to be their contact.

Quietbeat is not an emergency service. If someone may be in danger right now, call your local emergency number.

Quick start

Setup takes about three minutes.

  1. Install Quietbeat and choose who it's for: yourself, or someone you care about.
  2. Add your first contact and send the invitation from your phone, by text message, WhatsApp or email. They open the link and accept.
  3. Pick your check window and quiet hours. A 24-hour window is a good start.
  4. Allow the permissions Quietbeat explains on screen: notifications first, then Health and Motion. Location is optional.
  5. Send a test alert so your contact knows what a real one looks like.

That's it. Now and then, open Quietbeat and look at Safety net health. It shows which signals are coming through and lets you know if one stops.

iPhone: help Quietbeat notice your day

iPhone limits what apps can do in the background. These settings help Quietbeat notice your day reliably.

Notifications

Open Settings › Notifications › Quietbeat. Turn on Allow Notifications and Time Sensitive Notifications, so an “Are you okay?” check can reach you even when a Focus is on.

Health

Open Settings › Privacy & Security › Health › Quietbeat and turn on Steps and Heart Rate. Quietbeat only reads the time of the latest sample, never the value.

Motion & Fitness

Open Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness. Turn on Fitness Tracking and Quietbeat.

Background App Refresh

Open Settings › General › Background App Refresh. Make sure it's on, and on for Quietbeat.

Low Power Mode

Low Power Mode pauses background activity, so Quietbeat may notice fewer signs. That's okay for a while, and Safety net health will let you know. Turn it off when you can.

Keep Quietbeat in the background

Please don't swipe Quietbeat away in the app switcher: iPhone stops background updates for apps closed that way until you open them again. It also helps to open Quietbeat once in a while, because iPhone gives fewer background updates to apps that are never opened.

Optional: Shortcuts automations

For extra signs that you're up and about, Quietbeat can help you add two automations in the Shortcuts app: one when your charger is connected, and one when you stop an alarm. They run quietly and only tell Quietbeat the time.

Apple Watch

Wear your watch as usual and keep it paired. In the Watch app on your iPhone, check that Privacy › Heart Rate is on.

Menu names can change between iOS versions. Keeping iOS and Quietbeat up to date helps.

Android: keep Quietbeat running

Android phones save battery by stopping apps in the background. A few settings keep Quietbeat working. Menu names vary by phone maker and Android version.

Notifications

Open Settings › Apps › Quietbeat › Notifications and allow notifications.

Battery

Open Settings › Apps › Quietbeat › Battery and choose Unrestricted. On some phones this is called turning off battery optimization. Some phone makers add extra battery savers; dontkillmyapp.com has a guide for each brand.

Usage access

Open Settings › Apps › Special app access › Usage access › Quietbeat and allow it. This lets Quietbeat see when you last unlocked your phone. It doesn't collect which apps you use.

Alarms & reminders

Open Settings › Apps › Special app access › Alarms & reminders › Quietbeat and allow it, so the “Are you okay?” reminder appears on time, even without internet.

Physical activity

Allow the Physical activity permission so Quietbeat can notice your steps.

Avoid Force stop

Force stop pauses Quietbeat completely. If you used it, just open Quietbeat again.

I got a Quietbeat message. What do I do?

Thank you for being there. Here's what to do, one step at a time.

  1. Open the link in the message. You'll see what Quietbeat noticed: when they were last active, their battery level and any notes they chose to share.
  2. Tap “I'm checking” so the other contacts know someone is on it.
  3. Try to reach them. Call or send a message. If they listed a neighbor or someone with a key, try them too.
  4. If they're fine, tap the button that says they're okay. Everyone gets the all-clear.
  5. If you can't reach them and you're worried, call the local emergency number, then tap “I called emergency services” so the others know.

There may be a simple reason, like a flat battery or a phone left at home. The battery level on the page helps you judge.

Why did I get this?

Someone you know asked you to be their safety contact, and you accepted. You'll only hear from Quietbeat when they might need someone to check in, or when they send a test.

How do I know it's really from Quietbeat?

Our emails come from alerts@gorich.systems, and our links open quietbeat.gorich.systems. We will never ask you for money, passwords or codes.

I don't want these messages anymore

Use the link at the bottom of any message to stop them, or reply STOP to a text message. We'll let them know, so they can ask someone else.

Pause, trips and quiet hours

  • Pause: traveling, in the hospital, or just want a break? Pause Quietbeat for up to 30 days. No checks start while you're paused, and a fresh check window begins when the pause ends.
  • Trip mode (Plus): set “If I'm not back by…” for a hike or a solo trip. If you don't tap I'm back by then, Quietbeat starts a check right away.
  • Quiet hours: checks never start during your quiet hours. They wait until your quiet hours end.
  • Test alert: send your contacts a clearly labeled test message, up to 3 a day.

Delete your account

In the app, open Settings › Account › Delete account. Your account and all its data are deleted from our systems right away, and from our backups within 30 days.

Deleting your account doesn't cancel a subscription. Cancel it first: on iPhone in Settings › your name › Subscriptions, on Android in Google Play › Profile › Payments & subscriptions › Subscriptions.

Can't use the app? Email info@gorich.ae and we'll help. We may ask you to confirm the request from the app or from the email address on your account.
